Bus fleet man­age­ment has turned into a se­ri­ous, pro­fes­sional ac­tiv­ity that in­cludes equa­tions like yield per seat, on­line tick­et­ing, life cy­cle value of buses, in-bus en­ter­tain­ment and fancy bus shel­ters. Es­tab­lished in 1979, City Ser­vices op­er­ates 620 buses in the city of Kolkata and the re­gion that sur­rounds it. Fer­ry­ing a good 30,000 pas­sen­gers ev­ery day, the com­pany em­ploys 1352 peo­ple, and has adopted mod­ern tech­nolo­gies like GPS, 3G en­abled MDVR cam­era, RFID and more. Pro­vid­ing em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties to un­der priv­i­leged women in the form of lady at­ten­dants for school buses, City Ser­vices op­er­ates AC school buses in Kolkata among others.
