ICV cargo car­ri­ers are show­ing signs of growth. A good five nom­i­na­tions were re­ceived this year. A re­sult of cus­tomer-cen­tric ap­proach that is also about blur­ring the bound­aries be­tween seg­ments, ICVs are about tech­nol­ogy, im­age, price and TCO. The win­ner in this space, the BharatBenz 1014R Euro 5 truck is re­flec­tive of its man­u­fac­turer’s pro-ac­tive na­ture. Em­ploy­ing a SCR ex­haust af­ter treat­ment, the truck, with a GVW of 10,600 kg, emits 40 per cent less NOx. Pow­ered by a 140 hp, 3907cc diesel engine, the truck is aimed at ur­ban us­age where pol­lu­tion lev­els can reach much higher than the stip­u­lated value. Equipped with a six-speed trans­mis­sion, the BharatBenz 1014R Euro 5 costs the same as a BSIV truck, and is mod­ern and highly ver­sa­tile.
