CV sales on the rise

The up trend con­tin­ues as the growth graph is con­tin­u­ously mov­ing up­wards for the CV in­dus­try. It pro­duced a to­tal of 8,064,239 ve­hi­cles in April-June 2018 against 6,919,414 units in April-June 2017, reg­is­ter­ing a growth of 16.55 per cent over the same pe­riod last year. The over­all Com­mer­cial Ve­hi­cle seg­ment reg­is­tered a growth of 67.74 per cent in April-June ‘18 with 2,71,925 units pro­duced against the same pe­riod last year with 162,114 units. Whereas, 230,095 CVs were sold, up by 51.55 per cent in com­par­i­son to 151,831 in April-June ‘17. M&HCVs saw an in­creased growth at 116.07 per cent in April-June ‘18 as 107,946 M&HCVs were pro­duced in com­par­i­son to 49,959 units pro­duced in April-June ‘17. Out of the units pro­duced, 89,027 M&HCVs were sold, up by 83.59 per cent in com­par­i­son to 48,493 in April-June ‘17. In the LCV sec­tor, 163,979 units were pro­duced, up by 46.21 per cent in com­par­i­son to 112,155 in April-June ‘17. On the sell­ing front, April-June ‘18 saw 141,068 LCVs be­ing sold, up by 36.51 per cent in com­par­i­son to 103,338 units in April-June ‘17. In April-June ‘18, the sales of the Three Wheel­ers in­creased by 54.01 per cent over the same pe­riod last year with 104,976 units.

The fig­ures from the month of June ‘18 de­picts a rosy pic­ture for the CV seg­ment as 90,615 units were pro­duced, up by 44.01 per cent in com­par­i­son to 62,924 CVs pro­duced in June ‘17. Whereas, 80,624 CVs were sold, reg­is­ter­ing a growth of 41.72 per cent, com­pared to 56,890 in June ‘17. Apart from this, 34,211 M&HCVs were pro­duced, up by 45.94 per cent as com­pared to 23,442 in June last year. Also, 30,352 M&HCVs were sold, up by 43.34 per cent as com­pared to 21,175 units in June 2017. In the LCV seg­ment, 56,404 LCVs were pro­duced, up by 42.86 per cent as com­pared to 39,482 units in June 2017. Plus, 50,272 units were sold hav­ing grown at 40.76 per cent as com­pared to 35,715 units in June ‘17. The Three Wheeler seg­ment shows a con­tin­ued up trend as 104,781 units were pro­duced, up 55.94 per cent as June 2017 saw 67,193 units.

Ex­ports

In April-June ‘18, over­all au­to­mo­bile ex­ports grew by 26.73 per cent. While Com­mer­cial Ve­hi­cles ex­ports reg­is­tered a growth of 41.03 per cent at 24,393 units com­pared to 17,296 units over April-June ‘17. M&HCVs ex­ports reg­is­tered a growth of 26.66 per cent at 11,199 units com­pared to 8,842 units over April-June ‘17. In April-June ‘18, LCVs ex­ports’ were up by 56.07 per cent by ex­port­ing 13,194 LCVs as com­pared to 8,454 units in April-June ‘17. Whereas the Three Wheel­ers’ ex­ports’ were up at 143,661 units by 75.04 per cent, com­pared to 82,074 units in April-June 2017.

In June 2018, M&HCVs ex­ports’ were up by 51.96 per cent, com­pared to 3,079 units in June 2017. Also, LCV ex­ports were up by 55.82 per cent at 5,485 units com­pared to 3,520 units over June ‘17. The ex­ports in the Three Wheel­ers seg­ment were up by 67.37 per cent at 47,701 units com­pared to 28,501 units over June 2017.
