SC for exploring Hydrogen buses?

The Supreme Court of India has asked the Delhi Government to look at ‘zero emission’ hydrogen buses as a mode of public transport rather than to procure electric buses, claimed industry sources. Sources mentioned that the apex court has directed the state government and Environment Pollution Prevention & Control Authority (EPCA) to find out the feasibility to introduce such vehicles in the capital. This comes twenty years after the court directed conversion of all buses, taxis and three-wheelers to CNG to curb air pollution. The court is known to have expressed that hydrogen buses are running successfully in other countries, and their procurement should not be a problem since a CV maker has already begun manufacturing them in India. The Supreme Court, according to the sources, said that it was better to leapfrog from CNG to hydrogen fuel.
