CONSUMER COMPLAINT

Consumer Voice - - Readers’ Page -

I had purchased a Gregory (3 + 1 + 1) sofa set from Home Town Noida for Rs 58,999 at 50 per cent discount during a sale. But a defective sofa set with non-homogeneous colours was delivered to me, which was subsequently replaced with another defective set that did not conform to the purchased Gregory sofa in description. I was told that that the same set was not available in their warehouse. At that time I requested Home Town to refund the amount paid towards purchase of the set as all the sofas had the same defect in leatherite. However, I was informed that Home Town did not refund under any circumstance; they only issued credit note for faulty products and promised to provide a suitable resolution. Home Town Noida has been refusing to honour the commitment by repeatedly turning down my request for redressing the complaint satisfactorily. Now they are saying that the product is out of warranty, after putting me in a state of inaction for two years by misleading me with false hope. Home Town thus deprived me of my legal right to get refund or replacement for a defective product, sold to me with misleading information.
