At present, the national standards have not specified the limit for microbiological contamination. The Consumer Voice team conducted the ‘total plate count/gm’ test on the 10 brands of honey to check if the samples were prone tomicrobial spoilage. Total plate count was found between 10 and 4,300 cfu/gm. Hitkary had the highest TPC and Khadi the lowest.
