At present, the na­tional stan­dards have not spec­i­fied the limit for mi­cro­bi­o­log­i­cal con­tam­i­na­tion. The Con­sumer Voice team con­ducted the ‘to­tal plate count/gm’ test on the 10 brands of honey to check if the sam­ples were prone tomi­cro­bial spoilage. To­tal plate count was found be­tween 10 and 4,300 cfu/gm. Hitkary had the high­est TPC and Khadi the low­est.
