Man­nan-oligosac­cha­ride- (MOS)-based nu­tri­tional sup­ple­ments are widely used pre­bi­otics. They are of­ten used as nu­tri­tive ad­di­tives com­mer­cially. MOS has been proven to im­prove gas­troin­testi­nal health as well as over­all health per­for­mance. Gum ara­bic is an­other food ad­di­tive of­ten used by man­u­fac­tur­ers of desserts and con­fec­tions. They are also used as thick­en­ing and sta­bil­is­ing agents in the food in­dus­try. Sugar-free hard can­dies and low-fat ice cream can also be made with gum ara­bic.
