1 Turkish Delight— Serve Turkish coffee, mezze and gozleme. Lay out carpets and cushions; set up hookahs and, if you can, have a dervish dancer. 2 African Beat— All you’ll need is a professional bongo player to get your guests dancing. Decorate with wooden idols and tribal prints, and set up a barbecue. 3 A Vintage Affair— The ’ 20s were a glamurous decade; turn up the jazz music, pull out your art deco pieces and organise faux feather and pearl accessories for your guests. Serve mini sandwiches, spiced nuts, gin and champagne. 4 A French Evening— Have a blackboard announcing patè and steak frites near the dining area and bud vases on side tables to recreate a French Bistro feel. You could also play some Edith Piaf symphonies to create a Parisian ambience. 5 A Chinese Sit Down— Best for a small group— bring in serving bowls with Chinese patterns, chopsticks and table mats. Decorating the room with Chinese lanterns will transport you to Beijing.
