Be­ing able to take care of an an­i­mal and rais­ing a kid are so vastly dif­fer­ent in his mind that he doesn’t make any con­nec­tion be­tween the two.

Whether you coo at ev­ery baby you see.

To him, fawn­ing over in­fants is pure show, not ac­tion­able proof of your mommy skills.

Whether you have pic­tures of your kid nieces and neph­ews up around your house.

Un­less he knows them well, the im­pli­ca­tion of who’s in your pho­tos won’t reg­is­ter with him.

Whether you loved babysit­ting your sib­lings as a teenager.

He’s changed a lot since high school too, so he’s not go­ing to judge your

in­ter­ests way back then.

Whether you like to nest ( dec­o­rat­ing, cook­ing, etc.)

It’s im­por­tant to him that you con­trib­ute to the fam­ily, but that doesn’t mean you have to care about new win­dows and make a pie. If you share fi­nan­cial re­spon­si­bil­i­ties, that’s pitch­ing in just the same way.
