Editor’s Letter

Cosmopolitan (India) - - CONTENTS -

I’m one of those people who gets really excited about birthdays. And I don’t just mean being in a good mood on the day—I’m talking about planning the party five months in advance, buying 20 ‘outfit options’, and sending out a list of presents I’d like, so friends and family needn’t worry about what to get me. Yes, I’m obsessive about birthdays, so you can only imagine what a jack-in-the-box I’ve been the last few weeks, in anticipation of Cosmo’s 16th anniversary.

Welcome to our most anticipated issue of the year—our 16th birthday blowout, where we’ve asked every big name around to come join the party. The result is an issue packed with so much razzle-dazzle, it deserves its own glamour industry! We got Sonam Kapoor to handpick the hottest fashion finds for now (page 348); had Shilpa Shetty reveal her relationship rules (page 208); asked Jacqueline Fernandez and Kareena Kapoor to give us beauty tips and tricks (page 372 and 380), and I haven’t even gotten to our special features with Priyanka Chopra, Malaika Arora, Dia Mirza, Freida Pinto, Shruti Hassan, Parineeti Chopra, and Imran Khan ( whew)!

This special issue is also where Cosmo takes a very important stand— against domestic violence. Supporting us are some of Tinseltown’s most-wanted men, including Shahrukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Prateik, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Sidhartha Mallya. Turn to page 212 to learn about our Real Men Don’t Hit Women campaign.

And while we’re thrilled to have so many Bollywood biggies celebrate with us, at Cosmo we’re very clear that it’s you, our reader, who will always be the real star for us. And to thank you for being such fabulous (and involved) readers for 16 years, we’ve put together a mega giveaway, with hundreds of fabulous products for you to take home. Have fun winning them, and don’t forget to tell me how you liked this issue!
