#Cosmo Commits and So Can You!
We’re joining hands with Gucci’s Chime For Change campaign for women empowerment.
For nearly 50 years, it has been Cosmopolitan’s mission to change women’s lives for the better. When Helen Gurley Brown took over the magazine in 1965, she proclaimed that it was a woman’s right to have better sex and better relationships. She empowered women to feel beautiful, healthy, and confident in the bedroom and the boardroom, and asked why many women didn’t have adequate access to healthcare, contraception, education, or enjoy equal rights.
THE WORLD CATCHES UP TO COSMO
And slowly the world began to catch up with Cosmo by making it the world’s best-selling magazine, with editions that reach 100 million women all over the globe. We call it the Cosmo Effect. But while many of us have come a long way, there is still work to be done, and Cosmo is even more committed to help than ever. So we are continuing the mission with @CosmoCommits, and showing where we stand on issues that are important to us—and to you. Today, we're sharing with you what we think must change in India and what we are committed to help change. And we're asking you to make your voice heard, by logging onto social media, tagging and posting messages and photos of yourself. What are you committed to do?
CHIMING FOR CHANGE
@CosmoCommits is proud and committed to partner with Gucci as it rolls out its Chime for Change campaign, which focuses on improving the lives of women in three basic areas—Justice, Health and Education. Joining the global movement, the Chime for Change initiative—whose co-founders are Beyónce, Frida Gianinni and Salma Hayek-Pinault (top to bottom)— strives to unite the different causes and people behind them to create a global force for change. “I have always felt strongly about equal opportunity for women,” says Beyoncé. “Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be. It’s up to us to change the statistics for women around the world.” Chime For Change kicks off on June 1 in London with a concert to raise funds for women’s issues, with Beyoncé leading a star-studded line-up.
