Soumya Roy, 31, has been with her husband, Anish, 35, for 14 years. “Anish and I knew each other for four years, before we got married in 2003. I think the biggest secret of our success is that we’ve never let the spark in our relationship die. Whether it’s small gestures like cooking his favourite meal, or him planning surprise dates for me, what makes it special for us is that even after all these years, our relationship feels fresh. We’ve also come up with an unspoken list of rules that we stick with—respecting your partner is sacrosanct, as is spending Sunday night together. That’s our special thing, and we never compromise on it. Of course, like any couple, we have our share of arguments, but we never let things reach a stage where they get out of hand. Saying sorry is never an issue between us—even if he’s the one in the wrong, I quickly apologise and get over things.”
