A lit­tle hu­mour goes a long way, as colum­nist and HT City Ed­i­tor Sonal Kalra has found. Here’s how she deals with ev­ery­day stress.

1. At work, ap­ply the 30-sec­ond rule—do it now, and save the task from fall­ing into the trap of pro­cras­ti­na­tion.

2. You need a dig­i­tal detox ev­ery few days. Switch off the news once in a while. “There’s a switch off but­ton on ev­ery phone, use it,” says Sonal. This will help you unwind and pri­ori­tise.

3. Re­main stress-free by keep­ing buf­fers while do­ing any­thing. Whether it’s plan­ning an event or work­ing out dead­lines. If you have over-bud­geted for things, and your re­al­is­tic es­ti­mates turn out to be true, it’ll feel like an added bonus.

4. You’ve got to stand up to bul­ly­ing. Ig­nor­ing a mean or hate­ful com­ment is no longer ac­cept­able. Con­front the per­son. Get­ting an­gry at an in­sult is less im­por­tant than feel­ing truly proud of your­self and show­ing it off, calmly.
