A little humour goes a long way, as columnist and HT City Editor Sonal Kalra has found. Here’s how she deals with everyday stress.
1. At work, apply the 30-second rule—do it now, and save the task from falling into the trap of procrastination.
2. You need a digital detox every few days. Switch off the news once in a while. “There’s a switch off button on every phone, use it,” says Sonal. This will help you unwind and prioritise.
3. Remain stress-free by keeping buffers while doing anything. Whether it’s planning an event or working out deadlines. If you have over-budgeted for things, and your realistic estimates turn out to be true, it’ll feel like an added bonus.
4. You’ve got to stand up to bullying. Ignoring a mean or hateful comment is no longer acceptable. Confront the person. Getting angry at an insult is less important than feeling truly proud of yourself and showing it off, calmly.
