Cosmo: How does it feel to be part of the exclusive Masterchef club? Rishi Desai: “I feel like it’s kind of my 15 minutes of fame. The show gives you the perfect launch pad to get into the market. What matters is what you do next. For me, that’s going to include a cookbook out this year and pop-up restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne.”
C: What kind of cuisine are you dying to try and haven’t had the chance to yet? RD: “I’m lucky to be in Australia because it has so many diverse cuisines available. There are cuisines like Estonian that I haven’t tried and would want to.”
C: And what are your top cooking secrets? RD: “First off, don’t overcook your meat. We tend to do that here! Experiment with recipes you already know and be brave, I guess. Cooking comes from the heart, and the recipes from the brain—so use both together!”
