The charm­ing Masterchef Aus­tralia Sea­son 5 alum spoke to Cosmo about food, fame, pop-up restau­rants and a yummy recipe you’ve sim­ply got to try...

Cosmo: How does it feel to be part of the ex­clu­sive Masterchef club? Rishi De­sai: “I feel like it’s kind of my 15 min­utes of fame. The show gives you the per­fect launch pad to get into the mar­ket. What mat­ters is what you do next. For me, that’s go­ing to in­clude a cook­book out this year and pop-up restau­rants in Syd­ney and Mel­bourne.”

C: What kind of cui­sine are you dy­ing to try and haven’t had the chance to yet? RD: “I’m lucky to be in Aus­tralia be­cause it has so many di­verse cuisines avail­able. There are cuisines like Es­to­nian that I haven’t tried and would want to.”

C: And what are your top cook­ing se­crets? RD: “First off, don’t over­cook your meat. We tend to do that here! Ex­per­i­ment with recipes you al­ready know and be brave, I guess. Cook­ing comes from the heart, and the recipes from the brain—so use both to­gether!”
