‘How is Cosmopolitan different from other magazines?’

Cosmopolitan (India) - - CONTENTS - Nandini Bhalla, Editor @nandinibhalla

If I had a diamond for every time I was asked this question, I’d be Mr De Beers.

My answer—and, un-surprisingly, that of all the magazine’s Editors before me—has been pretty standard. Sure, Cosmo talks about stuff many other women’s magazines also cover— your life, your clothes, your relatationships, your career, your life-threatening need for the best red lipstick... But Cosmo’s approach is unique. Every feature we publish has a clear question behind it—how will this awesome-ize the Cosmo girl’s life? How will it make her even cooler, smarter, hotter than she already is? It’s this obsession with your life that probably explains why we’re the largest selling magazine in the world!

This issue of Cosmo has a lot of that awesome-ize stuff. One of my favourite stories this month is How to Have an Amazing Life, page 96, which pretty much outlines what happiness coaches have said for a long time—it’s the small stuff that makes a big difference in your life. I’ve already tried 2 of the 16 points (saying yes to more things, and doing something nice for someone else), and I can cross my heart and promise you it totally works.

Another feature that promises a life upgrade, especially in your closet, is These are the 50 Best Fashion Week Outfits, page 154. We know you must be on-trend, so we enlisted the help of some of India’s most stylish people, and had them identify the most standout pieces of Summer 2014. Each of our fashion panelists has a distinct personality and style, so you’re likely to find at least a few pieces to fall in love with.

Finally, there’s some major beauty inspiration in this issue. 66 New Things to Do with Your Hair, page 176, is the ultimate mane manual with over two months of fabulous ideas (you’ll never have a bad hair day again!)

Have a month filled with awesomeness,
