The Indian PC market to further consolidate

The shrinking PC market is leading to consolidation of the OEM ecosystem. After the exit of Indian OEMs HCL and Wipro, it is time for smaller MNC OEMs to consolidate their presence in India. LG for instance exited the notebook PC market last year. It is now being speculated that Fujitsu is planning an exit from the PC market in India. While Fujitsu India representatives are tight-lipped about it, some of its partners informed CRN that the company has stopped shipping new products, and is presently focussed on clearing the India inventory.

Based on partner feedback, it is learnt that Samsung too is planning to exit the entry-level notebook PC market to focus on high-end models. Some Samsung partners even suggested that the company may drive most of its high-end notebook sales through e-tail and LFRs, largely bypassing the IT channel.
