Chennai-based Mukesh Infoserve is slowly, but steadily moving toward business application solutions
Chennai-based Mukesh Infoserve, which is expected to clock revenue of nearly ` 50 crore in the current fiscal, has since 2010, been on the path of business transformation from being a hardware-centric provider to an application-centric provider.
Explains B Mukundh, CEO, Mukesh, “With hardware getting commoditized and competition increasing, we saw margins dipping in the hardware integration business. We realized how the hardware was becoming incidental, and what was important was the application because it was what drove business outcomes of customers.”
His first step to transforming the organization was to deploy SAP B1 internally. “It was great learning because it gave us deep insights into the entire process, including pain-points, and the levels of customization required to make ERP relevant to Indian SMBs,” opines Mukundh.
Mukesh also used their SAP implementation for marketing. “To show that we had successfully implemented SAP, at the bottom of our invoices we began mentioning in bold ‘Printed using SAP B1’,” Mukundh says.
For the first two years Mukesh focused on sales, consulting and implementation, but by mid-2012 it ventured into application development on SAP for niche verticals. Says Mukundh, “Today we have our own solutions for 14 verticals including retail, healthcare, jewellery and manufacturing, and have a 40-member team for software development and SAP implementation.” Mukesh has invested over ` 3 crore in its SAP practice till now. The company has won the Top SAP Partner Award for South India for three years in a row for its efforts to promote SAP in the SMB and mid-market.
This fiscal the SAP practice is expected to contribute 20 percent of topline—in addition to the consolidation, virtualization and tech refresh business that comes with it. Over the three years Mukesh has implemented SAP B1 for more than 70 SMBs.
On the agenda now is adding mobility solutions for which Mukesh has already developed a mobile app for sales force automation.
