Company sources say that it had an exciting year in India. In a market witnessing no or negative growth, overall the company’s market share stands close to 30% growing steadily quarter-on-quarter. What worked was the focus on innovation and continuously delivering customer centric products that enabled it to strengthen its position as the leading PC and print company in the country. Given its product depth and expertise, HPI was able to launch some really exciting products and have forayed into new segments. Over the year, HPI significantly strengthened its position in the premium category ($800 plus).
In terms of significant product highlights, the company launched a Centre of Excellence for Digital India in New Delhi. The CoE showcases futuristic technologies in security and surveillance through command and control center, mobility and healthcare with digital ICT labs, e-health centers and telemedicine and education with digital classrooms. It also launched a GST solution in collaboration with KPMG to empower and enable SMBs in India along with ensuring their smooth transition to the new tax regime in India. Meanwhile, it expanded its presence, for instance, it had more than 10,000 HP first partners, 4000 retail outlets, 500 HP World stores and service coverage across 720 cities; and also has tie-ups with Flipkart and Amazon.
If we look category wise, in Personal Systems, it launched it’s Spectre 13 - ‘World’s Thinnest Laptop’ marking the premium segment entry. The launch of HP EliteDesks and HP EliteOne AiO complimented the portfolio. The announcement of 50-day payment holiday for notebook customers, post the demonetization to establish HP’s endeavors towards providing unique buying experience also connected well with the consumers.
Another significant launch is the announcement of HP Z2 Mini - Industry’s First-ever Mini Workstation and the launch of OMEN by HP gaming portfolio featuring a family of devices with a bold new look offering feature-price value, built to maximize gamers’ experience.
Meanwhile in the Printing Systems, the launch of HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3775 - World’s Smallest AiO and the launch of the innovative line-up of new HP LaserJet Ultra printers – ensuring high-quality, reliable printing and making it more cost effective and mobile-enabled for entrepreneurs and SMBs in India. All these launches had significant market traction over the last year.
Other notable launches over the year were: the launch of HP LaserJet MFP M436 series - First MFP in HP’s new A3 line up (16 variants) that is designed to offer a cost-efficient option for high-speed, high-quality and highly-reliable printing in small offices.
In the Graphics & Solutions Business, the company launched its Latex 500 machines – 560 and 570 variants and the new DesignJet Z-series printers in India.
