FORMER FOOTBALL STAR SHARFUDDIN DIES AT 54

Mohammed Sharfuddin, a former national-level football player from the state, passed away at the age of 54.

He is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons. The Telangana Football Associatio­n extended their condolence­s to the grieving family.

Sharfuddin was a product of the first batch of the erstwhile Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh’s sports hostel. He represente­d AP at the Nationals from 1983 to 1988, and went on to work for the Accountant General’s Office. He also played for the iconic Mohammedan Sporting Club in Kolkata.

The TFA held a condolence meeting on Sunday, which was attended by all the office bearers, referees and senior players.
