St Francis College Begumpet asserted supremacy at their home stadium by winning the basketball and tennis tournaments at the Osmania University intercollegiate event.

In matches held at a charged indoor stadium on their college premises, the basketball team edged out St Ann’s with a 26-21 scoreline in the final.

Rachana, Rhea and Martina were the performers for the winning team scoring 9, 8 and 7 points respectively while Manasa, Ravali and Teju did their best for the losing side. The trio sank seven points each.

Earlier in the semifinals, St Ann’s defeated Loyola by a narrow margin of two points. Nikitha and Joy scored 9 points each for St Ann’s in thier 18-16 victory.

The other semifinal was lopsided. St Francis thumped Villa Marie 26-4.

The table tennis finals too were a one-sided affair with the home team again being the dominant side. Their opponents in the summit clash were once again St Ann’s.

St Francis began well with Bhakthi sailing past Shailu 11-7, 11-7, 11-4 in the first singles before Sreeja slammed Bhargavi 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 in the second singles. The doubles too did not evoke much of a contest as Bhakthi and Sreeja defeated Shailu and Bhargavi 11-8, 12-10, 11-6 to set off celebrations in the St Francis camp.

Loyala and Villa Marie colleges secured the third and fourth spots respectively in basketball while Kasturba and Aurora colleges took the third and fourth places in table tennis.
