NIT STUDENT SUFFERS SHOCK

A first year B.Tech student of the National Institute of Technology here, Hemanth Kumar, 19, suffered an electric shock and is critical after he accidental­ly came in contact with high tension wires while trying to take a selfie atop a goods train.

GRP SI Dayakar said the incident took place on Thursday morning near the Kazipet railway bridge. Hemanth and one of his friends came on to the railway track and were taking pictures. He decided to take a selfie from atop a stationary train and climbed on it. While taking the selfie using his phone he accidental­ly came in contact with the HT wires.

Hemanth was taken to the MGM Hospital in Warangal immediatel­y. Doctors said he suffered 91 per cent burns and is critical.

“We informed the college authoritie­s and got his details. He was from Rajasthan. His father, Bhanwarila­l, works with the Army. We have informed them about the incident,” police said.
