Hyderabad: Two minor students drowned in a quarry at Jeedimetla while learning to swim on Thursday. The deceased are Jahangir, 17, a student of Class X and Vaibhav, 14, of Class VII, both residents of Roda Mistry Nagar. The NGO, Balala Hakkula Sangham, blamed the quarry owners as they were not closing pits after work. The NGO has demanded the arrest of the quarry’s owners for negligence and demanded a compensation of `10 lakh. “The recurrent deaths of children in quarry pits is due to the fact that owners are not closing the pits,” said Balala Hakkula Sangham president, Achyuta Rao.
