Harika opens with win over Magnus
New Delhi: Grandmaster Harika Dronavalli began her Rejkjavik Open campaign in Iceland with a comfortable victory over local lad Magnus Magnusson. Playing black, the world no. 11 took control of the game at the Herpa Concert Hall late on Wednesday night, in the opening itself, forcing Magnusson into a series of mistakes. She next plays John Doknjas of Canada in the second round, the result of which will determine her third round opponent. A total of 266 players from across the globe are competing this year in the tournament. The competition, which began on Wednesday, will culminate on April 27.
