AT EDUCATION MEET, FEE HIKE IS MAIN CONCERN

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, JUNE 18

A State-level education seminar was held on Sunday, attended by over 400, including members of students’ organisations and parents’ associations. Rising fees in private schools and the dip in quality of education were the main concerns expressed.

“There is a fee hike every year but the returns are poor. Scho’ols have become moneymaking machines rather than educational institutions,” said Anwesha G, a parent.

The seminar was aimed at extending support to efforts by many parents associations fighting against extravagant fees.

N. Narayana, president of Telangana Parents’ Association, said, “We have asked the state government to take a stand against private schools. The report by Prof. Tirupati Rao Committee should be made public as soon as possible.”
