MIM DRAWS A BLANK IN NANDED POLLS

The MIM on Thursday failed to win a single seat in the Nanded Waghala Municipal Corporatio­n (NWMC) elections in Maharashtr­a. The elections were held on Wednesday. The MIM had 11 seats in the outgoing corporatio­n besides the support of two independen­ts.

For Wednesday’s election, the party had fielded candidates in 32 seats and tied up with the Bahujan Samaj Party, which contested in 22s.

The Congress retained power in the NWMC, bagging 69 seats, up from 41. The BJP won six and the Shiv Sena one.

MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi along with party legislator­s had extensivel­y campaigned in for the MWMC elections.
