ON WHOSE PEDESTAL?

Deccan Chronicle - - EDIT -

It’s disheartening to see that the government is ready to shell out an exorbitant sum on a statue (NTR to make way for Ambedkar Park, DC Oct 12). The expenditure doesn’t stop at installation of the statue, taxpayers’ money is used to maintain it year after year. The government can utilise this money on improving roads and the sewage system.

Deepesh Surana Bolarum, Secunderabad The new trend of political parties resorting to installation of statues is alarming. Why should TS and UP Chief Ministers K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Yogi Adityanath waste public money on statues that are of no use to the common man who is facing hardships every day? I believe the Supreme Court should step in and put a curb on statues for political gains. B.V. Rama Kumar Motinagar, Hyderabad
