CS: Departments will have social media Accounts

- DC CORRESPONDENT

If Chief Secretary Dr S.K. Joshi has his way, every government department will soon have social media (Twitter and Facebook) accounts for offering better service to the public. He also wants every government wing to have an updated website giving clear information to citizens about the activities and policies of the department concerned, updating government orders in Telugu language.

Dr Joshi held a review meeting regarding the functioning of websites of government departments and agencies with IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan and digital media director Konatham Dileep on Monday.

At present, nearly 265 websites related to different government departments and wings are in operation. However, the Chief Secretary wants to streamline the operation and asked the IT department to take the responsibility of running all government portals under it. He told them to give a report on this in ten days’ time.

Mr Ranjan and Mr Dileep briefed the Chief Secretary about the activities of the IT department in dissemination of information to the public, using online portals and social media accounts.
