The Telangana state government has completed payments to farmers from whom it had purchased paddy during the Rabi season.

Civil supplies commissioner Akun Sabharwal on Thursday said all payments were made online into the farmers’ bank accounts.

Mr Sabharwal said the government had procured 35.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 6.11 lakh farmers at 3,313 purchase centres. The total value of the paddy was `5,601.97 crore.

“The Civil Supplies Corporation has released the funds to all the districts. On Thursday, `349 crore was released to the districts. With this cent per cent payment to farmers has been completed. This `349 crore will be deposited in farmers accounts in one or two bank working days,” Mr Sabharwal said.

In view of the festival, payments to farmers, workers, transporters and for gunny bags had been completed.

Without any involvement of middlemen all the payments were made to farmers directly through online at Minimum Support Price.

Mr Sabharwal said sufficient funds were available with Civil Supplies Corporation to make all payments in time.
