COPS FACE MU­SIC FOR VI­RAT SELFIE

Three po­lice­men were sus­pended by the Rachakonda po­lice af­ter a fan breached se­cu­rity at the Ra­jiv Gandhi In­ter­na­tional Cricket Sta­dium in Up­pal on Fri­day. Mean­while, Khan, who was ar­rested for tak­ing a selfie with Vi­rat Kohli by the Up­pal po­lice on Fri­day, was pro­duced be­fore court and re­manded in ju­di­cial cus­tody.

The of­fi­cials placed un­der sus­pen­sion were iden­ti­fied as Prabhakar, sub-in­spec­tor, Srinu, con­sta­ble and Narayana, a home guard, who were on duty at the spot from where the fan, Mo­hammed Khan, sneaked into the ground and reached Kohli on Fri­day morn­ing.

Rachakonda com­mis­sion­er­ate po­lice of­fi­cials said that the de­part­ment has taken ac­tion against them for be­ing neg­li­gent while per­form­ing their du­ties dur­ing the match.

Khan was see­ing hug­ging Kohli, de­spite the lat­ter push­ing him away. He also took a selfie with Kohli be­fore the se­cu­rity per­son­nel could take him away.

Up­pal in­spec­tor P. Venkateswarlu said that based on a com­plaint from the Hy­der­abad Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion, a case ahs been booked against Khan un­der Sec­tion 351, 448 and 506 of IPC. This was the sec­ond such in­ci­dent in the se­ries af­ter Kohli was sur­rounded by fans in the mid­dle of the first test in Ra­jkot last week.
