TRIBAL, SW STUDENTS BAG NEET RANKS
Hyderabad: A total of 142 social and 48 tribal welfare residential students, have secured NEET UG ranks, including top all-India rankings in the SC/ST categories.
They are first generation learners from TS social and tribal welfare residential educational institutions societies and are children of beedi workers, small farmers, agricultural workers, roadside tea sellers, vegetable vendors, mechanics, cooks, masons and others struggling for a living.
Among them is Dejavath Girija, 85th ranker in the ST group who can enter AIIMS, a labourer’s daughter. Others are Nikitha, a beedi worker’s daughter, Amulya Devi, a bike mechanic’s daughter, and Nikshiptha, brought up by a single parent.
