Residents root for plastic-free Cuffe Parade, paper & cloth bags
and local corporator, on Monday launched the program. The CPRA members will visit various buildings in the Cuffe Parade area to sensitise the locals about their program.
“We have spoken to the retailers to ban the use of plastic completely. We have also handed over to them paper and cloth bags which will be given to customers with a nominal deposit fee. The money will be refunded when the customer returns the bag,” said Hansu Pardiwala, member of CPRA.
Vijay Bhimrajka, President of CPRA, said, “We are aiming for a plastic-free society, and we are getting a good response from the local residents.”
