Municipal General Hospital in Kandivli, also known as Shatabdi Hospital, were bitten by rats.

Earlier, the general body of the BMC held discussions following a notice moved by Congress Corporator Ashraf Azmi from Kurla to debate over the poor condition of civic hospitals under section 66B of Revised Mumbai Mu- nicipal Act 1888. Azmi alleged that the civic administration has failed to spend the funds set aside in the budget for the health department. “The civic hospitals lack ba- sic facilities while administration is sitting with funds,” said Azmi. He added that major operations in the hospitals are postponed for silly reasons like a fourth grade employee did not turn up. “In the last three months, several patients had to wait for operation as hospitals had not received necessary clothes required for the operation from laundry,” said Azmi. He added that there is lack of staff in the laundry.

He was supported by all political parties including the BJP. Meanwhile, I A Kundan, additional municipal commissioner submitted a report on rat bites in Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli.
