External affairs ministry readies reply to Vijay Mallya’s defence in London court

In a case review held on July 6, 2017, the tentative date for extradition hearing was fixed as December 4. Mallya’s bail was extended until this time.
Submitting case details, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Thursday said Indian authorities were preparing a response to the affidavit filed by Mallya’s lawyers to prevent his extradition.
“Another case management review hearing was held on September 14, 2017 in which the defence’s evidence was served to UK Crown Prosecution Service and a response ws sought from the Indian side. Indian authorities need to send a reply to the defence evidence before November 3, 2017,” he said.
In the hearing on October 4, UK Crown Prosecution Service filed supplemental affidavit in connection with money laundering charges. Mallya was re-arrested, and then granted bail till December 4, when the extradition hearing is scheduled to commence.
