35-yr-old man shot dead on a busy street close to Dadar

A 35-year-old man who was on his way to work was shot dead near Se­na­p­ati Ba­pat Marg road on Fri­day morn­ing. The de­ceased iden­ti­fied as Manoj Mau­rya is said to have been shot by an uniden­ti­fied per­son, who used a coun­try-made pis­tol. Af­ter the in­ci­dent, the shooter fled the spot im­me­di­ately. The in­ci­dent hap­pened near Pramod Ma­ha­jan gar­den out­side Mha­tre Pen build­ing at Dadar west area which is usu­ally a crowded place in the morn­ings.

The shootout was re­ported out­side Mha­tre Pen build­ing which houses many com­mer­cial in­dus­trial es­tates and pub­lic re­la­tions agen­cies and the main road out­side the build­ing is usu­ally filled up by flower traders. Also, the area is near to Dadar rail­way sta­tion. Ac­cord­ing to the Dadar Po­lice, Mau­rya hailed from Jaun­pur district of Ut­tar Pradesh and had come to city a decade back. He was stay­ing with his brother San­jay in a joint fam­ily at their MHADA flat on Bha­vani Shankar Road which is close to the area where the in­ci­dent took place. By pro­fes­sion, Mau­rya was in re­pair­ing, main­te­nance, man­u­fac­tur­ing and sup­ply­ing of weigh­ing scales. As per po­lice re­ports, CCTV footage shows an un­known per­son mov­ing around the vic­tim sus­pi­ciously; the man could be a prime sus­pect. Cops are cur­rently scan­ning call records to as­cer­tain the de­tails of the mur­der case.
