Bank re­cov­ers money that was si­phoned off

The State Bank of Mau­ri­tius of­fi­cials have claimed that it has re­cov­ered around 90 per cent of the to­tal amount of Rs 143 crore which was si­phoned off in a ma­jor cy­ber­at­tack that took place ten days back.

A spokesper­son of the SBM said, “Based on prompt mea­sures, we have re­cov­ered most of the amount. This loss will get re­duced af­ter claim­ing in­sur­ance and to pre­vent fur­ther dam­ages, nec­es­sary mea­sures have been ini­ti­ated. We would like to as­sure that no cus­tomer ac­count has been im­pacted and no rel­e­vant and cru­cial data of the bank ac­count hold­ers have been com­pro­mised.”
