Green Ganpati efforts bag awards, recognition
As part of the ninth edition of DNA’S Eco Ganesha Campaign, winners from four different categories were felicitated for their efforts and creativity in celebrating Ganesh
Chaturthi in an eco-friendly manner on Friday. The function held at FPH Garware Hall in Mahalaxmi marked the culmination of Eco Ganesha 2018, which has grown its reach year on year.
A musical ode to Lord Ganesha marked the beginning of the evening which saw the presence of Actor Tushar Kapoor and Actress Digangana Suryavanshi who gave away the awards.
The winner of the Big Eco Idea was Dilip Palkar of the Amol Society Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Mulund East.
The ten individual winners were Sahana (Belapur), Kalpana Karvat (Kandivali), Salma Memon (Malad), Hemang Devani (Andheri), Girish Waingankar (Dahisar), Sachin Patil (Lower Parel), Kiran Jangir (Powai), Yashesh Sampat (Kandivali), Dr Anshu Chauhan (Nerul) and Ricky Mehra (Vashi).
Varsha Solanki of Tardeo won the award under the Selfie with Ganesha category, which recieved a huge response. The ten winners in the housing society category: Kumbharwada Mitra Mandal, Shriniwas Ganeshotsav (Mulund), Jawahar Mansion Ganeshotsav Mandal (Charni Road), Bhagwa Mahal cha Ganraj (Mahalaxmi), Shree Bhimashankar Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal (Nerul), Gunsagar Nagar Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal (Kalwa), Shreerang Sahaniwas Ganeshotsav Mandal (Thane), Shubh Nirman CHS (New Panvel), Bal Gopal Mitra Mandal (Vile Parle) and Yuva Ganesh Utsav Mandal (Vashi).
Recognising the fact that sustainable living is the only way forward, DNA had launched the Eco Ganesha campaign in 2010, as an attempt to increase awareness, generate sensitivity towards nature and get more people to celebrate the festival in an environment-friendly way.
