As mo­bile caller tunes and ring­tones are the eas­i­est mode to reach masses, many as­pi­rants have adopted this medium. Elec­tion au­thor­i­ties were in­formed of this thor­ough com­plaints and they con­vened a meet­ing with tele­com com­pa­nies. “In ad­her­ence to the guide­lines, caller tunes, ring­tones and SMS will not be al­lowed by the com­pa­nies with­out seek­ing a cer­ti­fi­ca­tion from the elec­tion body. If any in­di­vid­ual, party or can­di­date in­dulges in such prac­tices, the com­mis­sion will take le­gal ac­tion against them,” said Dr Jog­a­ram.

The Ad­di­tional CEO ac­cepted that the Com­mis­sion has re­ceived mul­ti­ple com­plaints re­lated to such ad­ver­tise­ments.
