Fa­ther thanks Haryana govt for CBI probe

Barun Thakur, fa­ther of the sev­enyear-old child who was mur­dered inside the toi­let of Gu­ru­gram’s Ryan In­ter­na­tional School, ex­pressed his grat­i­tude to the Haryana gov­ern­ment on Fri­day for trans­fer­ring the case to the Cen­tral Bureau of In­ves­ti­ga­tion (CBI). He, how­ever, added that the fight was not yet over.

Mean­while, the lawyer of ac­cused con­duc­tor Ashok Ku­mar said that he was tor­tured by the po­lice and forced to con­fess to the crime.

Talk­ing to DNA, Thakur said, “Now, our aim is to get a per­ma­nent so­lu­tion for safety of chil­dren in schools,” He fur­ther said it was a fight with the sys­tem to en­sure strin­gent rules re­gard­ing the mat­ter. “There should be a des­ig­nated body to mon­i­tor safety of chil­dren at schools. The school has been shut ever since the in­ci­dent,” Thakur added.

The ac­cused’s lawyer Mo­hit Verma said that the con­duc­tor was be­ing framed. A po­lice team that was in Mum­bai for in­ves­ti­ga­tion will be re­turn­ing soon.
