Blue Whale dare helpline gets 35 calls in 8 days

Ahmed­abad: The Ahmed­abad Cy­ber Cell of Crime branch re­ceived 35 calls in eight days on the helpline num­ber launched to cre­ate aware­ness on the Blue Whale Chal­lenge. The helpline num­ber was is­sued on Septem­ber 7.

As per the Cy­ber cell of­fi­cials, of the 35 calls re­ceived, only one was from a vic­tim. The oth­ers were re­gard­ing guid­ance to pre­vent the Blue Whale threat and tip-offs re­gard­ing the links of the Chal­lenge.

The of­fi­cials have re­ceived calls from par­ents in the city, re­gard­ing how to pre­vent their kid from felling prey to the Chal­lenge. The of­fi­cials gave tips on how to pre­vent their kids from play­ing the Chal­lenge and how they can know

whether their kid is play­ing the Chal­lenge or not. They also told the par­ents to keep a close watch on their kids, es­pe­cially when they are us­ing a mo­bile phone or a com­puter.

Rajdeep Zala, ACP Cy­ber cell of Crime Branch said, “We have also re­ceived many links of the chal­lenge, but not a sin­gle one is gen­uine. Any­how, peo­ple have started tak­ing the news se­ri­ously and have started ap­proach­ing for help.”
