Three persons have been arrested for murdering an employee at the Bharat Petroleum Petrol station in NorthWest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar area, the police said on Monday. The three accused were trying to rob him and during the scuffle accidentally stabbed him.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Vishal Sonkar (23), Nikhil Saxena (19) and Puneet alias Raju (24). On the instance of Puneet, the murder weapon was recovered as well. On April 13, the accused men stabbed a 27-year-old man Naresh, who was an employee of the Bharat Petroleum Petrol Pump near the pump when he was heading home after finishing his work. The accused men who were drunk at the time of the incident decided to rob him.

“It was at 1:30 am when the accused spotted Naresh. Seeing him in his uniform, they thought he would have a lot of cash on him. The trio intercepted him and tried to rob him. The scuffle led to him being stabbed and his heart was punctured which gradually led to his death,” said a senior police officer. A team under the supervision of ACP Hukma Ram has cracked the case.

During the investigation, the police scanned every vehicle which was in the area on that night. The local police received a breakthrough when a tip-off was received that a bike with green alloy wheels was used in the crime. The motorcycle and knife used in the crime has been recovered from the possession of the trio. Vishal was earlier arrested in a rape case in 2014.
