Capitals feels the heat, faces four-hour-long power outages
Even before the start of summers, the residents of the eastern part of the national Capital have started to feel the heat as the Delhi government fails to provide a proper supply of electricity in the area. Residents allege that the power flow is stopped for hours in everyday.
The residents of Preet Vihar and Gandhi Nagar area of East Delhi allege that for over five days the supply of electricity has been continuously interrupted and on a daily basis the power supply remains shut for about four to five hours.
Every day the residents have been facing several power outages without any prior intimation by the authorities leaving them helpless.
Although the authorities had stated to have extra power for this summer in their Summer Action Plan, the reality seems to be nowhere near the plan.
“In the Summer Action Plan, the Delhi government had promised to provide full power supply and it had estimated extra power with them but even before the summer has started with we are facing power cuts for so many hours in a day,” said BS Vohra, president URJA, federation of RWAs.
