Apro­ducer, di­rec­tor, de­signer, TV host and now a God­fa­ther for new talent. Un­der his ban­ner, Dharma Pro­duc­tions, KJo has given breaks to sev­eral new­bies — writ­ers, di­rec­tors and ac­tors. Nikhil Ad­vani, Karan Mal­ho­tra, Pu­nit Mal­ho­tra, Tarun Man­sukhani, and Ayan Muk­erji, who started out as his as­sis­tants. He never re­ally got credit for his hits as a di­rec­tor be­cause all his films starred SRK. Then Karan signed new­bies Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sid­harth Mal­ho­tra in Stu­dent Of The Year. The trio be­came the toast of the in­dus­try and has surged ahead with their next re­leases, all within a year of their de­but film! His pro­duc­tion house has be­come big­ger with ev­ery pass­ing year. As a pro­ducer, he is a dream to work for, while ev­ery star dreams of work­ing with KJo. Most of the forth­com­ing films from his ban­ner have new­bie di­rec­tors. Be­sides be­ing a film­maker, Karan is a brand on TV with a show of his own, Kof­fee With Karan. He is also judg­ing Jha­lak Dikhhla Jaa and will soon be seen as an ac­tor — play­ing a bad­die, no less, in Anurag Kashyap’s Bom­bay Vel­vet. How does he do it all? He will never tell.
