Lift technician dies in mishap at Lodha’s The Park
A lift technician died while doing maintenance work of a lift at Lodha’s The Park project in Lower Parel on Friday. The deceased Dilip Rai died after the lift’s counterweight hit his back, following which he fell on the ground and succumbed to his injuries.
As per primary investigation of the NM Joshi Marg Police station, Rai was working at the under-construction site when the mishap happened. The police allege that
Rai died due to his colleague Manojkumar Singh’s negligence. Police said the lift suddenly started and the counterweight hit Rai’s back. “We have arrested the negligent person (Singh) and have booked him under section 304
A of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to negligence,” said a police officer.
Meanwhile, the Lodha Group issued an official statement stating that the work is being carried out by a leading contractor. “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased. Financial support will be provided to the family. We will conduct a detailed inquiry in the matter against the parties carrying out the construction and direct them to take necessary steps to prevent another such accident.”
