Hectic schedule for PM Modi in Gujarat today
Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a whirlwind one-day visit to his home state Gujarat on Sunday, where a packed schedule awaits him.
The prime minister will launch the country’s first ever cooperative society of farmers, under the Gujarat government’s SKY scheme, in Anand. The scheme will help farmers install solar panels in their farms and generate energy they can use to operate water pumps, while the surplus power can be sold to a power distribution company.
Modi will then inaugurate a chocolate plant of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk
Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns Amul, at Mogar village in Anand. Other projects under the GCMMF, with a total investment of Rs 1,120 crore, will also be launched. These include production of milk powder, ghee and butter at Bhat village near Gandhinagar, an ice cream plant at Vidya Nagar, a cheese plant at Khatraj and a packaging plant at Anand. Modi will also electronically lay the foundation stone of a dairy project in Kolkata by Amul, and an incubation centrecum-centre of excellence in food processing prepared by the Anand Agricultural University. He is also expected to address a rally here.
He will then head to Rajkot where he will inaugurate the newly-built Mahatma Gandhi Museum at Alfred High School, from where Gandhi passed his matriculation in 1887.
The prime minister will also dedicate a natural gas pipeline laid by the Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) between Mundra Port and Anjar, and perform a ground-breaking ceremony for work on making the highway connecting Varsana, Bhimasar, Anjar and Bhuj towns of Kutch into a four-lane road. He will also address a rally in Anjar.
