In a ma­jor ret­ro­spec­tive that the Mu­seum Tinguely (Basel) ded­i­cates to Wim Delvoye (un­til 1.1.2018), tra­di­tion clashes with utopia, and ar­ti­sanry with high tech­nol­ogy — as in Ce­ment Truck, a real-life Corten steel ce­ment mixer with laser-cut neogothic dec­o­ra­tions. Or the carved tyre (Pneu, above) and the most pro­vok­ing work: Tim (right), with Tim Steiner, the 40-year-old who in 2006 had his back tat­tooed by Delvoye and since then tours the world as a liv­ing sculp­ture.
