Art made of pollen, milk and rice

At MASI in Lugano, a major exhibition devoted to Wolfgang Laib (until 7.1.2018) with 50 works – sculptures, photos, drawings, and installations allows visitors to explore all aspects of his creative universe. The itinerary, designed in collaboration with the German artist, places his early works (Milkstone, with marble and milk) alongside his famous Rice Meals sequence (1983, below) and his imposing ziggurat (Es gibt keinen Anfang und kein Ende, 1999) in wood and beeswax. The focus of the show is a large, light-filled field of pine pollen – a reflection on the cycles of nature and the precariousness of life.
