Ephe­meral Ur­ban­ism: Cities in Con­stant Flux

Cu­rated by Rahul Mehro­tra and Felipe Vera, the ex­hi­bi­tion pri­mar­ily com­prised of re­search on vary­ing types of tem­po­rary land­scapes of the Kumbh Mela, pre­sented us­ing dif­fer­ent forms of me­dia. It pro­vided mean­ing­ful in­sights re­gard­ing what cities, and ur­ban plan­ners, can learn from tem­po­rary set­tle­ments that in­volve rapid as­sem­bly, move­ment, and dis-as­sem­bly. This re­search, with its sec­ond stage of ex­plo­ration, not only dras­ti­cally al­ters the way we would look at the ur­ban and the na­ture of cities, and their fu­ture, but also asks for newer mod­els of re­search and un­der­stand­ing, de­vel­op­ing a cri­tique even of re­cent mod­els, which, un­til a few years ago, were cel­e­brated or con­sid­ered as the an­swer to the prob­lems at hand
