"A fruit for all seasons" (July 16-31, 2014) was a good read. Mango benefits the tribal community not only in Odisha but also in Visakhapatnam. The fruit helps the tribal
people earn a livelihood. The delicious dry mango cake, ambosoda, is healthier than mango juice that is packaged and sold in the market. This is made without sugar or added preservatives. In tribal areas of Visakhapatnam, where slash-and-burn method of cultivation is practised, the tribal community does not touch mango trees as they understand the many benefits of the tree. Such relations between the indigenous people and nature must be maintained.
