"A fruit for all sea­sons" (July 16-31, 2014) was a good read. Mango ben­e­fits the tribal com­mu­nity not only in Odisha but also in Visakhapatnam. The fruit helps the tribal

peo­ple earn a liveli­hood. The de­li­cious dry mango cake, am­bosoda, is health­ier than mango juice that is pack­aged and sold in the mar­ket. This is made with­out sugar or added preser­va­tives. In tribal ar­eas of Visakhapatnam, where slash-and-burn method of cul­ti­va­tion is prac­tised, the tribal com­mu­nity does not touch mango trees as they un­der­stand the many ben­e­fits of the tree. Such re­la­tions between the in­dige­nous peo­ple and na­ture must be main­tained.
