Landpower

Down to Earth - - LETTERS - OMANA

This is with reference to "Land for ladies" (July 1-15, 2014). There should be no second thoughts about the ownership of property. Family property should be jointly owned by both husband and wife. When it comes to parental property, there is nothing wrong if only the daughter is entitled to a share. An asset-less woman is most often a voiceless woman, especially in rural India. Women must have an equal right to ownership of land or other ancestral property so that they live dignified lives and do not have to depend on men for support.
