Farmer is the loser

Down to Earth - - LETTERS - M VIGNESH

"Pray before you sow" (July 1-15, 2014) was a touching article showing the vagaries of the monsoon. Indian agriculture is so raindependent that it would not be wrong to say agriculture

in our country is a big gamble. Monsoon has become erratic in recent times. And now the possibility of an El Nino phenomenon is giving our farmers sleepless nights. It is said that agriculture is an art, science and business. Either ways, it is the farmer who suffers as a result of crop failure, not the agricultural scientists and ministers.
